Romans 12:18
“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”

Forgiveness and reconciliation are related, but they are not identical. Forgiveness can be offered even when reconciliation is not immediately possible. Peace sometimes requires boundaries, distance, accountability, or time.

Romans 12:18 reminds us to do our part. We cannot control another person's response, repentance, maturity, or behavior. We can control whether we allow unforgiveness to dictate ours.
